University of Saskatchewan Jazz Ensemble 1 Concerts

Dean McNeill will be directing the University of Saskatchewan Jazz Ensemble 1 which will be performing the following concert dates in term two of this academic year:

1. February 01, 2008: Location to be announced.
2. March 29, 2008: Bassment Jazz Club, Saskatoon.
3. April 21 and 23, 2008: Cantando Music Festival, Edmonton, Alberta.

Metro Jazz Ensemble at Broadway Theatre, Saskatoon

CD Release for Mélange: New Music for Trumpet and Piano
June 24, 2008, from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM
The CD release for Dean McNeill's latest recording project will be at the Mendel Art Gallery in Saskatoon from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm (no cover charge). Dean will perform some music from the album with Jon Ballantyne (Jazz Piano), and Bonnie Nicholson (Classical Piano).

Dean McNeill Jazz Sextet opens for Dave Brubeck

The Dean McNeill Jazz Sextet will be performing the opening set for the Dave Brubeck SaskTel Jazz Festival concert at TCU Place. McNeill's ensemble will include Dean McNeill on Trumpet, Mark DeJong on Sax, Barb Hamilton on Trombone, Jeff McLeod on Piano, Mike Noordzy on Bass, and Jerome Jennings on Drums. This concert is presented by the SaskTel Jazz Festival.

Unity Quartet, Jazz Combo playing at Saskatoon Freehouse
Nov 15, 29, Dec 13 (2007), Jan 03, 17, 31 (2008)
Dean McNeill is playing trumpet in the jazz combo 'Unity Quartet', along with Mark DeJong (sax), Soren Nissen (bass), and John Neelin (drums). Unity Quartet will be playing at the Freehouse, a restaurant in Saskatoon located at 608 Spadina Crescent, on the following dates: Nov 15, 29, Dec 13 (2007), Jan 03, 17, 31 (2008). Band starts at 9:00 PM, there is no cover charge. Unity Quartet plays a collection of original compositions and jazz standards.

University of Saskatchewan Wind Orchestra Concert
November 16 and 23, 2007
Dean McNeill will be playing the first movement of the Hummel 'Concerto for Trumpet' with the University of Saskatchewan Wind Orchestra at the following concerts:

1. November 16, 2007: UNIFEST Concert, Quance Theater, University of Saskatchewan Education Building, 6:30 PM and again (separate concert) at 8:00 PM (same location).

2. November 23, 2007: Wind Orchestra semester-end final concert, Convocation Hall at 7:30 PM.

Concert for the Western Canadian Music Awards
Saturday, October 20, 2007
Dean McNeill played a classical trumpet/piano concert in Moose Jaw on October 20, 2007 for CBC Radio and as part of the Western Canadian Music Awards. This concert was sponsored by the Canadian Music Centre and will be broadcast on CBC Radio Saskatchewan. The time and date of that broadcast will be announced in the future.
